Intervision refers to a moderated meeting of like-minded people (e.g. managers) during which the participants learn from one another through friendly and supportive advice.
Intervision is the regular establishment of a group for continuous discussion and advice on themes related to day to day work.Typically, the group meets every 4-6 weeks for 2-4 hours.If an appropriate qualification has been attained, Intervision can be implemented by the group itself.It is meaningful at the beginning for Intervision to be accompanied by a qualified consultant.

Themes that can be dealt with through Intervision:

• Sharing of visions, approaches and experiences
• Discussion of difficult vocational situations (e.g. team problems, problems with employees)
• Ability to examine own method of working in interaction with others
• Making personal issues the subject of discussion (e.g. dealing with new challenges)
• Obtaining instructions and approaches for productive work and action
• Allowing oneself to be inspired

Intervision procedure:

1. Theme collection
The issues and themes are collected in co-operation with the participants.

2. Decision
The group decides which issues are the most important according to the significance and urgency of the problems.
A decision may be made to call a meeting to deal with a specific problem, in which case stocktaking and selection are not required.

3. Description
The theme selected is described in detail by the participant. The other group members ask questions with regard to facts and content which serve merely to clarify the theme.

4. Consultancy
The participants exchange thoughts about possible solutions / approaches / alternatives.

5. Selection of a proposal for a solution
The person who has introduced the theme announces the choice he or she has made and the proposals for a solution that appear to be of significance and worthy of consideration. During this phase it is also possible to use role playing to test the solution proposal that has been chosen.

6. Further steps
Arrangements are made with regard to further procedure.
